Pallikoodam: A Harmonious Blend of Nature and Architecture

Pallikoodam is a school that beautifully combines nature and architecture. Designed by Laurie Baker and built by Nirmithi Kendra, the school uses sustainable design. The exposed brick, graceful arches, intricate jali work, and terracotta tiles give it a charming look and show Baker's commitment to protecting the environment. By using locally available materials, he made sure the buildings fit well with its surroundings.

The school is spread over a ten-acre campus with interconnected spaces. All the buildings follow the natural shape of the land, creating a smooth flow and enabling indoor and outdoor learning. Without doors and with large windows, the school invites nature inside, creating a close connection between students and their environment.
